5.1 The Constitution.

A constitution is the rule book for state or country.∙ It sets the basic principles by which the state or country is governed.

Components of the Constitution of Kenya.

 Preamble- sets out guiding principles and objectives of the constitution.

 Bill of rights –outlines the fundamental rights and freedoms of all individuals in Kenya.

 Structure of the government-establishes the three arms of government-the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary- and goes a head to define their powers and functions.

 Devolution-provides for the establishment of country government and outlines their powers and functions.
