Some of the things we did in the past may come back to haunt us in the future. Ono is deeply disturbed by some of his past actions as portrayed in Kazuo Ishiguro‟s An Artist of the Floating World. Ono is worried that some of his past actions may have contributed to the collapse of his daughter Noriko‟s marriage negotiations with the Miyakes. After the collapse of the negotiations, Noriko is excited about her new prospect, Taro, that she even reveals that in front of Mr. Mori. The collapse of the negotiations greatly affected Noriko.
